LOGGING ON:
- Dial 54900 from a campus phone or 895-4770 from off campus.
- (From a digital phone press the bottom key and then the message key.)
- You will be greeted with the following prompt:
- ”CALL PILOT FROM NORTEL NETWORKS. . . MAILBOX “
- Enter your mailbox number (your extension number) followed by the number sign ( # ).
- The system will respond:
- ”PASSWORD”
- Enter your password followed by the number sign.
- Log on is completed
MAILBOX SET UP: (THREE STEPS)
- PASSWORD
- GREETINGS: Internal & External
- PERSONAL VERIFICATION
TO SET UP PASSWORD:
- Dial into the voice mail system.
- You will hear the following prompts:
- ”CALL PILOT FROM NORTEL NETWORKS. "
- THE TEMPORARY PASSWORD ASSIGNED BY YOUR ADMINISTRATOR MUST BE CHANGED”
- ”TO ACCESS YOUR MAILBOXPLEASE PRESS 84 AND CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD”
- Press “84”
- The system will respond:
- ”PASSWORD CHANGE. TO AUTHORIZE THE CHANGE PLEASE ENTER YOUR OLD PASSWORD FOLLOWED BY NUMBER SIGN.”
- Enter your old password followed by the number sign ( # ).
- System response will be:
- ”PLEASE ENTER YOUR NEW PASSWORD FOLLOWED BY NUMBER SIGN”
- Enter your new password followed by the number sign ( # ).
- You will be prompted again with:
- ”PLEASE ENTER YOUR NEW PASSWORD AGAIN FOLLOWED BY NUMBER SIGN”
- Enter your new password again followed by the number sign ( # ).
- You will now hear:
- ”YOUR PASSWORD HAS BEEN CHANGED”
- Password change is completed.
TO SET UP THE GREETINGS:
It is recommended that you state your name and/or number clearly on voice mail greetings.
If you are out of the office or unavailable for an extended period of time, please update your voice mail message
appropriately, including expected date of return if available. Update your greeting when you return.
External Greeting = dialed from off campus-more formal
Internal Greeting = on campus-less formal
Temporary Greeting = To be used while away from office.
- Log into your voicemail box
- Dial 82. The system will respond: " FOR YOUR EXTERNAL GREETING, PRESS 1. FOR YOUR INTERNAL GREETING PRESS 2. FOR YOUR TEMPORARY GREETING, PRESS 3. FOR PERSONAL VERIFICATION PRESS 9. FOR THE SYSTEM GREETING PRESS 0."Enter the appropriate number.
- To record your greeting, press 5. Wait for the tone, then speak.
- When you have finished recording your greetings, press #
- To review the greeting, press 2. To delete and re-record, press 76 and then press 5 to re-record.
- If you are recording a temporary greeting, press 9 to set the expiry date and time.
The system will respond, "Greeting expiry. Expiry month." Enter the number of the month in which you want your temporary greeting to expire (for example, the number 6 for June) followed by #.
The system will respond, "Expiry day." Enter the day you want your greeting to expire followed by #.
The system will respond, "Expiry time." Enter the time you want your greeting to expire followed by #.
The system will respond, "For a.m., press 1. For p.m., press 2." Enter either 1 for a.m. or 2 for p.m.
The system will respond, "Your greeting will expire at [the date and time you set]."
TO SET UP PERSONAL VERIFICATION:
- This precedes all messages you send, that PERSONAL TOUCH
- LOG INTO your voicemail box
- Then dial 829
- The system will respond "there is no name for personal verification".
- Press 5 to record--Just say your own name
- Then press #... that stops ALL recording
- Press 2 to play back
- Press 76 to delete it and begin again with recording
OTHER OPTIONS:
- Press 1 TO PLAY beginning of current message
- Press 2 TO REPEAT play of current message
- Press 3 TO SKIP FORWARD
- Press 4 TO play previous message
- Press 5 TO RECORD A MESSAGE
- Press 6 TO play next message
- Press 7 LIST OF MSG. commands
- Press 8 LIST OF MAILBOX commands
- Press 9 TO Call sender
- Press * FOR HELP
- Press # TO STOP PLAY OF mailbox
- Press 71 TO reply to message
- Press 73 TO FORWARD message
- Press 75 TO compose a message
- Press 76 TO DELETE each message
- Press 79 TO SEND/delivers message in the mailbox
- Press 5 to record - this must be done or they will not receive your message.
- Press 83 TO DISCONNECT FROM THE VOICEMAIL SYSTEM
This system is user friendly, but if you should require any assistance, please do not hesitate to call me at ext. 54146. There is approximately 5 minutes of storage space in your mailbox; After 3 incorrect attempts at logging into your mailbox you WILL BE DENIED ACCESS to it and will need to call ext. 54146 to have it reset; once you DELETE a msg. AND LEAVE the system the message is in voicemail Heaven!
For information on accessing voicemail from non-digital phones and access from off campus, please call 895-4146. Also when you do not wish to disturb your caller, you may send a message without ringing into the office physically, just press 54901- for expressing messaging and you will be prompted how to leave your message.
